About The Instructor

 Steven Nelson has traveled the BWCA and Quetico Parks for over 40 years.  He and his family own and operate Spirit of the Wilderness Outfitters & Outdoor Store, Ely, MN.  He has guided numerous groups focusing on wilderness canoeing and fishing.  His business is noted for providing personal service and introducing groups to the wilderness. 2008-2010, Spirit of the Wilderness was chosen as 1 of 10 top bait shops in Minnesota to be featured on ExploreMinnesota.com website.  Join Steve as he will provide details on planning your next adventure in the BWCA, unique sites to visit, tips for fishing, along with entertaining stories of the wilderness.
