Independent School District 696 is comprised of Ely Memorial High School and Washington Elementary. We are located at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Our 530 students truly get the best of all educational worlds: dedicated teachers who know every student, a variety of state-caliber sports and extracurricular activities in which to excel, and a safe environment and supportive community in which to learn. Though our beautiful buildings are historic, students have access to the latest technologies; they learn using 1:1 Chromebooks for their research assignments or creative impulses.
