School Readiness Pre-K Class

The Ely Public Schools School Readiness Program is an opportunity for children who turn four by September 1, 2023, to participate in a structured pre-k program.  Our class will run from October 2nd through May 21st. We will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 12:00-2:50pm.  Our classroom is in the Early Childhood wing of the Washington Elementary building.

Our curriculum is supported by the MN Early Childhood Indicators of Progress which focus on eight areas of learning: Social/Emotional; Approaches to Learning; Language, Literacy, & Communication; The Arts; Mathematics; Scientific Inquiry; Social Systems; and Physical & Movement Development.  This program is designed to give students the confidence and skills needed before entering kindergarten.  Classes are tailored to meet the needs of the students.  Class size is limited.

My first goal for School Readiness is that students love being at school!  Learning can only take place if a student wants to be present!  I use student's areas of interest to determine my themes for the school year.  We can achieve high levels of learning when students are interested and engaged in what we are talking about!
