INTRODUCTION TO MINDFULNESS & MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

 What is Mindfulness Meditation?

Mindfulness Meditation is a mind training practice that teaches us to slow down racing our thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both our mind and body. It combines meditation with the practice of mindfulness.

 Mindfulness Meditation practices focus on the breath and the body, as a way to learn to be open the present moment, thoughts and sensations. A sense of calm, peace, and balance achieved through meditation can benefit our emotional well-being and overall health. The great news is that the benefits of meditation don’t end when the session ends. It can continue to bring tranquility to you throughout the day and help prevent over-reactive behaviors when the going gets rough.

 What Can I Expect?

 Introduction to Mindfulness and Mindfulness Meditation provides a step-by-step program to learn mindfulness techniques and the basics of mindfulness meditation. The six-week course will provide:

 Mindfulness Techniques for daily life

  • Progressive guided meditations
  • Proven meditation practices and the inspiration you need to keep practicing
  • Explore daily meditations can benefit both your body and mind
  • Way to discover the power of meditation to bring more meaning into your life

  Note: Mindfulness Meditation does not require any props or special physical ability. These practices can be done sitting, standing, laying down or in bed.

 


Class Details

Wednesdays for 6 weeks.

6:30pm-8:00 Free

Jan: 12, 19, & 26

Feb:  2, 9, & 16

Location: Presbyterian Church, 226 E Harvey St., Ely, MN

About The Instructor

Biography

Holly E. Brodt is a long-time meditation practitioner. She is a retired St. Paul Police Officer, has a Degree in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University, and is a Certified Police Peer Counselor. She has been a member of the Arrowhead Critical Incident Stress Management Team for over 9-years and is the Arrowhead CISM Outreach Education Coordinator.

Holly also created her own programs and company: Resiliency P.O.W.E.R. Education. She offers Stress Management and Resiliency Building education and more to emergency, public safety, and medical personnel, as well as high stress organizations
