Special Board Meeting Minutes                                                      July 22, 2010
 
          1.0     The special meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 696 was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman Marsnik.
2.0     On roll call the following directors were present: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Absent: None. Also present: Superintendent Donald Langan; Tom Coombe, Ely Echo; Adam Masloski, Ely Timberjay; Mike Hoheisel, Northland Securities. Kim Belcastro, Director of Operations/High School Principal, and Joselyn Murphy, Elementary Principal were absent.
          3.0     Pledge of Allegiance
          4.0     Moved by York-Jesme, seconded by Erzar, to adopt the Resolution Relating to the Issuance of School Building Bonds and Calling an Election Thereon with the following changes: Removed the $350,000 JFK recycle/demolition from question 1 and replaced that amount with $200,000 of technology and removed the $200,000 technology from questions 2 and 3.  For: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Against: None. Motion carried.
          5.0     JFK Building Demise - The following documents from the July 7, 2010, hearing were submitted for the board’s review by John F. Cope, Hearing Officer:
                   5.1     Hearing officer’s exhibits
                   5.2     Hearing transcript
                   5.3     Hearing officer’s findings
                   5.4     Moved by Kellerman, seconded by Erzar, to adopt the Resolution Closing the JFK Elementary School as recommended by John F. Cope, hearing officer effective July 30, 2010, or as soon thereafter as the administration deems to be practical and feasible. For: Erzar, Kellerman, Marsnik, Pengal, Richter, York-Jesme. Against: None. Motion carried. A letter was received from St. Louis Co. stating they will be completely vacated from the JFK building by the end of October 2010. They will reimburse the district for all expenses to keep the building open from July 30, 2010, until they are completed vacated.
          6.0     Moved by Richter, seconded by York-Jesme, to adjourn at 8:35 p.m. Motion carried.
